FILMING- HOUSE

one of our other locations was in a house and we used Saarah's house to do this. Saarah supplied us with a ring light which helped with lighting because this was shot after college therefore it was quite dark anyway with no daylight at all. we did various types of shots and angles. we all took turns with the camera and gave ideas as we did the whole shoot. luckily we managed to everything done in that one shoot.

Editing and planning

in todays lesson we looked at what we have so far on our music video and listed what needs reshooting and what else we need to film before the deadline and edit. we tried adding a few shots in and fixing the shots by making it in sync with the song.

risk assessment

these are the risk assessments me and my group have done. we have looked through the locations and analysed what could be a possible risk and founds ways to overcome that so when we go to shoot our music video we will be prepared and try to overcome that so we can get great shots for the video.

UPDATED STORYBOARD

saarah started off with the drawing on the storyboard and me and ania  threw in our ideas. i took over with the drawing and writing lyrics for the last 4 pages so There's a fair chance for all of us to take part in this task. me, ania and saarah had similar ideas and tried to put all our ideas in based on the lyrics and what we can imagine. The storyboard will help us during the shoot so we don't miss anything out and we know what were doing.

Pitch prezi presentation

Pitch

We chose to do on a wave by drake and Kiana as it was the most voted and the reasons for why that had a higher vote also made sense as to why we should do that song. first of all, it sounds better, better story and it well enable us to gather all our ideas together to create something different and something challenging because we will have to think of a great shot that will match the lyrics and what is being said. referring back to the audience, we have been told that on a wave was better than the other song which made us come to a conclusion that, that was better off because it's not a story most music videos are based on. the song itself is about being independent and how you don't need a man to be successful and trust issues.

LOCATIONS

,

we will use the arcade to shoot both the couples having a good time and this will be a flashback of good times. we will use a busy street to capture the main girl and her friends and we will focus the camera on her only and the rest will be blurred out. we will use the embankment bridge to shoot the girl on her own having deep thoughts while lip syncing. we will also use the studio to get close up shots of both girl and boy with dim lighting to create a mood. and for the beginning of the music video we will use a house because we planned for them to argue before the music actually starts so it sets the scene. we planned the for the door to shut then the music comes on and looking at previous music videos, most arguments happen before the song starts at a house.

The infinite mix exhibition

As a media class, we attended the infinite mix exhibition. There were artistic features produced As music videos or clips put together by the artist. The infinite mix was located on the strand, the located had a lot of surface area which made it easier to get around without it being too overcrowded. Every room we entered was pitch black with only the screen on which have an in depth experience of the whole thing. From attending the exhibition it gave us an idea on how we should do our music video, either narrative or performance based however the exhibition didn't really give us an idea on how we should use lip sync in a more sophisticated way and wasn't used in any of the showrooms which was a downside because lip syncing is something we will definitely use in our music video.

analysis of lyrics

As you can see here as saarah, ania and myself have put in our ideas to analyse the lyrics. We listened to the song repeatedly and used our imagination to complete this task. this is just a part of it we will be analysing more and see what time of shots and locations to use later on.

music video ideas

In our groups we have been deciding on songs which we could use for our music video. we are thinking of doing leaving tonight by jennifer hudson and neyo. the song is about a couple who think they're cheating on eachother by hearing rumours etc, we are also thinking of another song called on a wave by kiana and drake, this song is about change and its something different which is why were stuck on which song will be best for our music video. the theme of the music video will stay the same: camera angles, effects, locations etc will be the same but the song will either be leaving tonight or on a wave. we will come to a verdict when we pitch our ideas to the class and get audience feedback which will then help us decide on which song by doing a vote. :

Ideas

In today's lesson we were deciding on what songs to do that don't already have a music video. We have some song suggestions but nothing is certain yet. So far we have a song choice that we will have is Neyo and Jennifer Hudson leaving tonight. We looked at existing music videos to get ideas on how to do the music video which would be loved based on.

music analysis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxsmWxxouIM

artist: Beyonce
song: sorry
date: 22/06/16
producer: Onye Anyanwu

This music video is about how Beyonce isn't sorry about what she's done and she's not bothered thinking about the other person because she's got better things to worry about and how people won't catch her worrying about them. The beginning of the music video is quite narrative which I like because it tells an in-depth story of what she's talking about which coordinates with the music video which is that she's not sorry about anything and that she couldn't care less about what happens. As a whole, I think that the music video is more of a narrative plus performance based along with the rest of her other songs and this video is more conceptual based too because it's related to everyday life for most people. The representation of the artist is that she's independent, outgoing and mature. The camera angles in the music video include tracking of the lady walking so the audience is moving along with the lady to where she's gonna lead them. This music video is black and white too which links to her mood and the locations and her costumes. Also with this music video, there are many cuts so it's in line with the beat. the mise en scene would be in the back of a van and inside a house. The people in the music video have face paint on which expresses the mood of the people and the atmosphere. There's lip sync used in this music video because there's also background signing that she sings to also. The target audience will once again be young teenagers as they can relate because teenagers nowadays have that type of attitude of not caring about things that don't really mean anything. From this music video, I would use the black and white effect and the cutting rates and I would want my music video to also tell a story because that's what makes it more interesting.

music video analysis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGc9n6BiWXA

artist: beyonce
song: dance for you
date: 27/11/2011
producer: beyonce

Dance for you is an appreciation video from the females side towards her male partner. This music video is performance based by looking at the video shes expressing her affections for her lover. The theme of this music video is love and she talks about how much she appreciates and how devoted she is. the representation of the artist (beyonce) shows her views towards her lover from her perspective and she uses some sexual terms in the lyrics as it is between her and her lover.
the video is black and white and shes dressed in fancy clothing which makes it look quite chic shes as wearing a short dress with black silk gloves and diamond bangles and earrings with heels. in the video it seems as if shes luring the man in by her dancing and her outfit. at 2:46 there was a replay which is quite effective as it isnt seen in many videos and it kind of links to what shes singing because shes listing things that has been done for her and the replay could suggest that she wants them again. At 3:08 there was a slight zoom in as the ladies are in a line facing the camera  also there are a lot of cuts so its in line with the beat which makes the video interesting because when everything is in beat the music video looks more professional. Theres also tracking used in the dancing bit to get the dancers and beyonce herself in as they all dance in one line. lip sync is used throughout the whole video but there is background singing as well as the main song being played and beyonce is ringing the actual lyrics while she has her background voice too. lip syncing sounds better with no background noise and most most music videos have the artist lip sync to their own song. The target audience i would say is young girls mostly because the song is based on her how much she appreciates her lover and most girls can relate to how she feels. From this music video i would use the black and white effect and the different cut rates which are in line with the beat because i feel like it makes the video look so much better and everything is in sync with eachother.

music video analysis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNr3t1vOv2M

artist: kiss daniel
song: mama
date: 20/04/16
producer: young john

The video is narrative based, it tells a story about the singer (kiss daniel) and his love towards the woman in the music video. the woman meets with a car accident and ends up in hospital and as soon as kiss daniel finds out about her accident he rushes to the hospital to look after his lover and makes feel at ease. the lyrics work with the video, as stated in the lyrics he talks about cherishing her and wanting to make her feel special which is clearly seen in the video.
the representation of the singer: kiss daniel is shown as a well-mannered gentleman who knows how to treat a woman and is there for his lady. From this video, you can clearly see how he is with women in general and his feelings towards the lady in the video and it gives a message to other men who will listen to the song and realise how important women are to them.
camera angles: this music video has many cuts which show each scene is different places such as the car, kitchen, hospital, terrace, and bedroom. there are many close up shots and theres a depth of field when the lady is in hospital of her hand on the bed. and hand held camera when the car meets with an accident, the car losing control.
Theres a special effect where theres a gun shot at 1:53 and theres a crack on the screen which is very effective - visually. There's lip sync used to make the music video sound and look more professional and that's what brings your audience closer because with a bad video you wont be getting many views or likes.
i would use the special effects from this video only because its different and its not seen in many music videos.

camera - filming

In todays lesson we learnt how to use the camera in a step by step method. we learnt how to control exposure, how to pick the picture style and how to make it into focus. to do this we used a cannon camera. firstly we started on the menu where we change it to movie rec size to 1080p then we moved onto exposure control which involves: shutter speed of 50, aperture to experiment and ISO should be 100 at its lowest and 1600 at its highest because above this point the footage might become grainy and will ruin the shot. also, we learnt how to change the picture style to neutral and the white balance to AWB which stands for auto white balance. lastly, we focused on focus. there's auto focus (AF) and manual focus (MF) but from today's lesson we were told that manual focus is better.
